Pink soup records

This year, Vilnius Pink Soup Fest will set two records - the longest pink soup table and the most people eating pink soup at the same time. The Lithuanian supermarket chain “Maxima” will help to achieve this goal by serving 1 000 portions of this traditional soup on a record-breaking 362-metre-long pink table on the day of the festival. This record is one of the highlights of the festival.

The record-breaking 362-metre table length was chosen for a reason - it was calculated to commemorate the first mention of beetroot soup, which is considered to be the predecessor of pink soup, in Vilnius City. Rimvydas Laužikas, a researcher of heritage communication, historian, professor at the Faculty of Communication of Vilnius University, says that Lithuania’s gastronomic heritage is unimaginable without the pink soup.

No special registration will be required to take part in the record, and the first 1000 participants will be accepted. All you have to do is arrive at Aukštaičių street next to Tymo market on 1 June at 01:00 p.m., where you will be greeted by the event organisers, who will assign you a seat at the record-long table.
