Beatričės house

This home is a living story that invites visitors to dive into the cultural, aesthetic and emotional world of the past century. The museum tells the story of the life and work of the famous Lithuanian singer Beatričė Grincevičiūtė (1911–1988). Her life reflects a dramatic segment of Lithuanian history: from a childhood on a manor estate, the emigration and exile of family members, to a successful cultural career in Soviet Vilnius. This is a home that inspires: despite her blindness, Beatričė strove to fulfil her dream of becoming a singer. Her story is one of tenacity, creative power and strength. Throughout her lifetime, the singer performed about a thousand pieces by various composers.

Beatričė’s House offers immersive tours during which visitors get to listen to Beatričė’s life story, hear her records play on her own record player, take a seat on her living room sofa or have some coffee made according to Beatričė’s recipe. The crackling sound of the record player will serve as a very special soundtrack to visitors’ memories of their time here. Beatričė’s House will also paint a picture of the daily life of the visually impaired in Soviet times.
