Vilnius has reaffirmed its status as the premier meetings destination, leading the Baltic capitals in the ICCA Country & City Rankings 2024. Hosting 44 qualifying international congresses last year, Lithuania’s capital surpassed Tallinn (40) and Riga (32), securing 29th place among more than 500 European cities. Vienna (154), Lisbon (153), and Barcelona (142) hold the top three positions.
“Vilnius is proud to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for international associations and their conferences. This success reflects the strong partnerships we’ve built across our community — from venues and hotels to local agencies, researchers, and business leaders. The meetings industry plays a vital role in Vilnius’ economy, helping to create jobs, foster sustainable growth, and build resilience,” said Vita Žilinskaitė, Head of the Go Vilnius Convention Bureau.
Vilnius hosted a total of 561 international conferences and corporate meetings in 2024, welcoming more than 73,000 delegates and generating an economic impact of €75 million - a 38% increase compared to the previous year.
At the national level, Lithuania places 47th worldwide with 54 congresses, with Vilnius hosting over 80% of them. The United States (709), Italy (635), and Spain (536) lead the overall country rankings.
