See Vilnius the way our guests did!

👋
  • It was interesting to hear from a local about the country, traditions, and history. It's nice to visit cozy alleyways and backyards, which would otherwise be hard to find for an unsuspecting tourist. Guide is very friendly and kind, greatly recommend!

      Daniel

  • Arnas was punctual, enthusiastic, and generous with his time. He showed me parts of the Old Town that I don't think I would have found if I'd gone exploring by myself. My first time using Meet A Local was a resounding success.

    — Rogier

  • Gabija was wonderful to visit with! Despite the rainy weather, we were still able to see Old Town and talk about life in Vilnius.

    — Kiera

  • I had the pleasure of taking an individual tour with Zivile on June 1st. It was a great experience.
We had a nice walk along the water just chatting and getting to know one another. After our walk, we had a coffee together, where we could relax and just enjoy the moment.
In the evening we went to a bar for a beer and we tried the traditional Lithuania fried bread, Kepta Duona.
If you're looking for a nice walk and chat around Vilnius with a local, I cannot recommend Zivile enough!

     Gabrielle

  • Jurgita is a very kind, nice and friendly person. She tailored the visit around my interests and what I had already seen.
We also talked a lot and I discovered many things that I would never have known otherwise.
It was a really lovely experience!
Jurgita, thank you very much. I'm also very grateful to the city of Vilnius for this fantastic opportunity (and the free coffee voucher)!

    Matteo

  • Had a wonderful time with Giedrius!! He was kind, knowledgeble, and interesting. Showed me around places I wouldn't otherwise likely get to visit. A great welcoming experience to Vilnius!

    — Tomer

  • Jurgita was very friendly. She gave lots of nice info and tips about the city and life here.  I really loved the we walking and the conversation.

     Ana

  • Aurimas was incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s history, sharing insights and important dates that brought the past to life. I especially appreciated how he took the time to explain aspects of the local culture, making the tour both educational and engaging.
Beyond the city, he thoughtfully recommended other destinations across the country, which I truly appreciated.
I had a very pleasant time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Aurimas to anyone looking to learn more about the city. Thank you very much!

    — Mimi

  • We had a wonderful time with Agnė. We had been in Vilnius for about a week, and she showed us so much that we otherwise would not have seen, as we were staying in a different part of the city. Even though it rained during part of our time together, we could still see a lot.

    — Michael

  • Kristina is a very nice, kind and most of all intelligent person! We met during a rainy afternoon and talked about politics, history and society in Lithuania. Kristina is well familiar with all three areas and answered every question of mine honestly and precise. It was a very very lovely encounter and I would definitely encourage everyone to book an appointment with her! Thanks a lot for the great time!

    Thomas

  • Very friendly and enthusiastic to answer all our questions about her beloved City! We learned so much about Culture, history, politics and people. Thanks so much for this amazing tour and the chance to follow Kristina‘s steps and words.

    — Gaby

  • Our tour was very interasting. We wanted to see places not so many people know and Arnas took us to courtyards and small streets we would not visit on our own. We recommend spending time with a local in unknown city as it gives an opportunity to discover it from another point of view.

    — Lasma

  • Agnė gave me a lot of insight into what Lithuanians today think about. She also shared interesting information about Lithuanian culture and her family. I am grateful for her time!

    Loura

  • Our Guide was just amazing. Thanks a lot for the very nice evening.

    — Nora

  • Agnė completely made my brief visit to Vilnius a perfect one!!
First, I think your "Meet a Local" program is a GREAT idea.  And second, Agnė is the most perfect ambassador for your program!

She is very knowledgeable about the city and country's history and provides it all in the context of the sights we are visiting.  One of my favourite parts of our time together was that Agnė introduced me to hidden little gems around Vilnius - places that would not be found on a tourist guide and that made the tour so much more personal and special.
I also enjoyed how much Agnė and I were able to discuss our different cultures (I am Canadian) and how much or little we had in common - it felt like chatting with a friend and not impersonal like having a guided tour with 30 people (where this could never happen). Finally, I am also so very grateful to Agnė for all of the time that she spent with me - far longer than the tour was supposed to be!  She must have seen how excited I was by every big or small place we were visiting and that I was so eager to see more and more....and she was so proud to show me more and more of her home city!   In fact, at the "magical square" where you are to make a wish and turn three times, I made a wish to return to Vilnius for a longer visit and meet with Agnė again! Thank you again for making it all possible!!

    — Diana

  • Gabija is a very lovely and calm Person, I enjoyed the tour with her a lot <3

    Florian

  • Živilė was a great guide around Vilnius, taking me to lots of interesting places, and a bakery to try Šakotis! Had a great afternoon with her!

    Harry

  • The best tour guide I've met here. We went to some good places, definitely a nice lady with good sence of humor and knowledge of the city. Recommend 👍

    Mohammad

  • Jurgita was a charming and very pleasant host for our first introduction to Vilnius. Her English was faultless. Your city is beautiful. I was very pleasantly surprised when she adamantly refused a tip! We also really appreciated the coffee vouchers. Aachoo!

    — Mark

  • I don't like to write reviews, because I think that reviews are always from above.  . The fact that I try my hand at one anyway is to be seen as a special thank you. We had a lovely walk through the old town, Aušra showed me a lot of things that interested me, gave me valuable tips and patiently answered my curious questions. All in all, she gave me the opportunity to see Vilnius with different eyes. I was really touched that someone who didn't know me simply gave me herr time to show me heir city. Thank you very much for that, a great idea and a successful experience!

    Eva

  • Jurgita is an absolutely amazing, very impressive and friendly person. It was such a privilege to spend this time with her, getting to know the city of Vilnius. Jurgita is an expert world traveler, and really inspired me to feel strong and confident about my own solo travel. She showed me the best parts of the city and it has been the best part of my trip so far. What an enjoyable time! If you are thinking about doing the meet a local opportunity, definitely do it, it is totally worth it. Thank you so much to the city of Vilnius for offering this amazing opportunity. I really loved it. Jurgita, thank you so much!!

    — Stephanie

  • Živile was very welcoming and suggested that we walk in an area outside of the old town because we were already doing some tours that covered that area. This was a lovely opportunity to meet a local, have a chance to ask about life in Lithuania today and in the past, and to be shown an area we may not have found on our own. Thank you.

    — Libby Wallace

    — Linda

  • It was our first time to meet a local and it was very interesting! We learned a lot about Vilnius and places to go to. Carola, Germany

    — Carola

  • We liked very much Arnas' availability and kindness to take the time to meet us and speak to us about Vilnius. We were a group of one adult and two children and he was very patient and easy-going. We also went with him for a stroll in the city where he showed us some of Vilnius' secrets.

    — Marco

  • Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of joining the Meet a Local program in Vilnius, and I couldn’t have asked for a better ambassador than Gabriele. From the moment we met, her warmth and energy were absolutely contagious. She greeted us with a big smile and an open heart, ready to dive into the adventure I had hoped for: discovering the hidden corners of Vilnius. Gabriele didn’t just show us the city, she shared it with us. We wandered through charming backstreets, stumbled upon tucked-away courtyards, and explored places that don’t usually make it into guidebooks. Her stories brought the city to life, weaving together history, local culture, and personal anecdotes that made every stop feel special.
We walked a lot (which was perfect!), laughed even more, and ended the evening with a cozy dinner where the conversation flowed effortlessly. Gabriele’s enthusiasm never waned, she was genuinely excited to share her Vilnius, and that made all the difference.
If you're looking for a unique, heartfelt way to experience the city, I wholeheartedly recommend booking a local through this program. And if you’re lucky enough to be matched with Gabriele, prepare for an unforgettable journey filled with laughter, insight, and the kind of connection that makes travel truly meaningful.

    — P.

  • Giedrius was great: very nice, polite, pleasant to talk to and answered every single question we had!! He showed and took us to places we’d never had gone by ourselves- thank you for your time dear Giedrius and see you in Greece! Kalli & Andreas

    — Kalliopi

    — Edvinas

  • We had a lovely walk by the river, a place that didn't even cross our minds and would be a shame not to go to. Thank you, Gintare, for the talk and the recommendations for dinner :)

    — Sara

  • IT IS A TIME WELL SPENT.  It is a privilege to have Kristina as your personal tour guide because not only is she knowledgeable about history but she has lived it herself. She has shown me exactly what I needed: what is life like in Lithuania. We shared a local meal together, saw the innings of the university and the cathedral where one would get a grasp of the country’s love for architecture, preserving culture and aiming high for the academe.
I had questions and she answered. She didn’t only give one side of history, she also introduced the deep roots of where streams from archaic times flowed beneath our feet. Beliefs of what was, and the need to keep roots of perseverance to continue to enjoy the freedom that they now possess.

She also listened with intent on my views, a kind of respect I appreciate. We spoke of family and careers. I was interested in her previous work, how she played a role in the development both in the political and academic fields. I was very fortunate to enjoy a local meal in a restaurant full of character thanks to her recommendation. We spent hours to remember. And I hope to visit Lithuania again and with Kristina around, I am already certain it will be a memorable one.

Special thanks to the Tourism office for this great initiative. More power to the team! Ü

    — Sheena

  • Agné is a friendly and passionate person that is open to any question or conversation you have for Vilnius & Lithuania, past and present.
She has many recommendations in hand so dont hesitate to ask!
Thanks alot for the tour of Vilnius Agné, it was nice meeting you!

    — Julian Sen

  • Spending time with Živilė on a walk across Vilnius and talking over a cup of lemonade was wonderful! She is a kind, friendly, interesting and wise person with whom it's easy to connect. Esu dėkinda (I'm grateful) for the opportunity and would recommend it to anyone visiting Vilnius! :))

    — Elia

  • Kristina went over and beyond my expectations, I had an absolutely wonderful experience. She is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and made me feel very welcome for my first time as an American in Vilnius. After I explained my Jewish ancestry in Lithuania and what time period I was researching, she cultivated a tour with stories of how Lithuania as formed, what life was like in the shetls of my ancestors, how it was for her family (and the Jews) during the German occupation and then I learned all about the Soviet occupation as well! I love history, and she was able to fill in many gaps and answer so many questions I had. I highly, highly recommend taking the opportunity to tour and learn from Kristina!

    — Bonnie

  • It was wonderful spending time with Jurgita! We went on a long walk along the river, she showed me the old prison, we talked about travels, languages and cultures and had a coffee together. She seems to be a very kind, easy-going and communicative person! I'm really glad we met! 10/10 <3

    — Elia

  • Gabija is a very lovely and calm Person, I enjoyed the tour with her a lot <3

    — Florian

  • We had the loveliest afternoon with Šarūnas! He brought us to discover so many hidden paths, streets and places -- we enjoyed a short hike to view the sunset, received such an insightful tour around Uzupis, introduced us to Lithuanian literature corner and pastries (as well as a very yummy Ukraine cherry wine)!! Šarūnas was very attentive to our interests and tailored our time around it, bringing us into small souvenir shops and exploring 'only local' alleys (our favourite little gem was the smallest alley in Vilnius!!)
He was very knowledgeable about Vilnius history and culture, and was also so eager to share more with us! He even went out of his way to send us follow up details about other recommendations around Vilnius!
Our time in Vilnius was truly enriched by Šarūnas and would strongly recommend contacting him if you want to connect with a local who is hospitable, warm and knowledgeable about Vilnius!!
Ačiū again for such a memorable afternoon!

    Cheers, kay and min

    — Kay

  • Agné is a witty local and absolutely fun to spend time with. We had the chance to speak openly and frankly. Amazing places, just made my trip to Vilnius even more pleasant!

    — Eva

  • We had a fantastic time! Augustinas is a great guy - he showed us around Vilnius and let us in on some beautiful spots we wouldn’t have found otherwise. 10/10 experience

  •  Meeting Kristina and spending time with her was pretty delightful. If you are interested in the culture and history of Lithuania Kristina is the perfect choice. We highly recommend visiting Vilnius University with her! The few hours we've spent with Kristina were the highlight of our stay in Lithuania so far. Also her recommendations for exhibitions to visit were excellent. Thank's again Kristina 🙂

    — Silvia

  • Gabriele is a very good guide. She is open-minded, interested in people, and you can tell that she enjoys showing others the beautiful parts of Vilnius.

I really enjoyed spending time with Gabriele at the end of October and getting to know the city better from a local's perspective.
The bar at the end was a very good choice and a perfect way to round off the evening.

    — Marco

  • I'm very grateful to Arnas for coming out to meet me on a very rainy November afternoon. The weather did not detract at all from the primary experience of spending time with a local, who was most generous with his knowledge and time.
Arnas' insightful suggestions will help shape the rest of my visit to Vilnius and elsewhere in Lithuania, as I embark on an unusual pilgrimage to research very niche cultural interests. He has already planted ideas in my mind which may well require another trip, as two weeks simply won't be enough time to take it all in.

    — Auriel

  • A wonderful experience thanks to Laurynas and the “Meet a Local” initiative! This program is a fantastic way to discover not only Vilnius as a city, but also how people live there. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with Lithuanian culture and society through genuine human interaction. Laurynas was incredibly kind and welcoming. Communication with him was easy and natural, and the walk around the city was both pleasant and enriching. Although we initially planned for a two-hour meeting, we ended up talking for nearly four hours, enjoying a lively and insightful conversation. I’m truly grateful for the time he generously shared with me. Highly recommended!

    — Miguel

  • It was so wonderful to meet Augustinas. I really enjoyed getting to see the city from his perspective and have real conversations with someone who is local!

    — Mira

  • Thank you Kristina for this informative walk. I had already spent some weeks in this cultural vibrant town when meeting Kristina. She captured very well and quickly what could be of my interest and showed me some hidden gems. I appreciated her huge knowledge and profound experience when talking about history. This added to my knowledge in a pleasant and enjoyable way. Thank you very much for this informative walk in a pleasant atmosphere.

    — Eva

  • Agne was a perfect guide. She adopted my wishes spontaneously (we visited an academic art gallery and the open gallery) and was a very friendly open-minded ambassador of Vilnius. Our exchange reached far beyond Vilnius and included the newer history of Lithuania, comparison of the Baltic states and our reciprocal experiences with the opening of east-western borders in Lithuania and Germany as well as in the Ukraine.
It´s a wonderful offer to meet locals in this way!

    — Thomas

  • We really enjoyed our time with Šarūnas, he was exceptionally friendly, open and knowledgeable. He even treated us to a Lithuanian bagpipe demonstration! Highly recommended!

  • I met Gabija on my second day in Vilnius and she started to show me all interesting places with background stories all over the city. We also talked about daily life in Vilnius and she was very helpful when I had any questions. She is a talkative and knowledgeable young woman with international experience, I am very glad to have met her since I got a first impression of the city and its wonderful, fascinating and beautiful streets, buildings, parks and restaurants. I definitely can recommend to book a tour with Gabija!

    — Carola

  • We had a fantastic experience with our guide! She was both knowledgeable and attentive, striking the perfect balance between sharing small personal stories and major historical events. It was clear that she was passionate about the place and its history. Very friendly, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to – it felt like walking around with a good friend who just happened to know everything about the area. Highly recommended!

    — Päivi

  • Everything was fine for us, as I told before. it is fine that you are spending a coffe, haveing the first talk with the guide.
I recommend to ask on your homepage about the language, which the guide should speak.
Maybe as well - helpful for the guide - how many person are in the group.

    — Burckhard

  • Our meeting with Miss Zivilé was a wonderful experience. She is a warm and engaging person, and a great ambassador for Vilnius and her country. We highly recommend her!

    — Lukas

  • After a couple of days touring Vilnius ourselves we thought it would be fun to sign up & “meet a local”. We met up with Jurgita, & what a great time we had.  She took us to areas we had not seen, shared insights to the history of the city as well as shared her personal experience living during & post Soviet occupation. Can not emphasize enough what an incredible innovative concept “meet a local” is.  Don’t miss this experience!!!

    — Christine

  • Very kind and welcoming lady! She had lots of knowledge about Vilnius, its history, and the best places to explore. She didn’t just share the popular attractions, but also gave me amazing tips about hidden gems, cozy cafés, and beautiful corners of the city that only locals know about. Thanks to her, I was able to see Vilnius in a much more authentic and personal way. She explained everything with so much passion and made the whole experience both fun and insightful. I truly appreciated her warmth and enthusiasm, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone visiting Vilnius!

    — Donna
