Vilnius to host EFIB in 2022
Vilnius won the right to host the 15th European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy (EFIB). The news was announced yesterday during this year’s event in Vienna, with Lithuania’s representatives on board. Vilnius will welcome around 600 of Europe’s top experts and leaders in the field of industrial biotechnology for a two-day forum in October 2022.

The Lithuanian Biotechnology Association (LBTA) led the bid for Lithuania’s capital with significant support from Go Vilnius, the city’s tourism and business development agency, as well as the entire local Life Sciences sector, including private, national and municipal stakeholders.
"The biotechnology community and public bodies have shown unprecedented unity, perseverance and persistence,” says Go Vilnius Director Inga Romanovskienė. “What was achieved together – revealing both the strengths of the industry and benefits of the city ¬– undoubtedly impressed the event’s organizers. We are honoured to be hosting EFIB 2022 and cannot wait to welcome the delegates to our growing capital.”
Dr Claire Skentelbery, Director General of EuropaBio also commented: "A support of biotechnology innovation and development at national and regional level in Europe is one of the key priorities of EuropaBio. I am happy that next year EFIB for the first time will be hosted by Lithuania – a growing hotspot in Europe for Life Sciences development and operations, offering not only a welcoming and value-driven ecosystem but also a pool of highly skilled and motivated talent."
