Vilnius has been selected to host the 47th Annual Meeting of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS) in 2029, marking the first time the congress will be held in the Baltic States. The three-day meeting is expected to bring around 800 paediatric orthopaedic surgeons, researchers and healthcare professionals from across Europe and beyond to Lithuania.
EPOS is one of Europe's leading professional organisations dedicated to children's musculoskeletal health. Its annual meeting provides an important platform for sharing the latest research, discussing clinical practice and strengthening collaboration among specialists working in paediatric orthopaedics.
The congress will be hosted by the Lithuanian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (LPOS) and represents an important milestone for both Lithuania's and the wider Baltic paediatric orthopaedic community. The successful bid was led by Dr. Giedrius Bernotavičius, whose active involvement in EPOS and collaboration with colleagues across Europe played an important role in bringing the congress to Vilnius. The selection also reflects the contribution of Lithuanian specialists to the European paediatric orthopaedic community and the strong professional relationships built through international collaboration.
For specialists in Lithuania and across the Baltic States, hosting the congress will provide greater access to world-class expertise and professional networks, while creating opportunities for new research and clinical collaboration. It will also provide a platform to showcase Lithuanian expertise and contribute to discussions shaping the future of paediatric orthopaedic care.
The bid was developed in partnership with Vilnius Convention Bureau and C-IN, a professional congress organiser specialising in international scientific and medical meetings.
"We are proud that Vilnius will host the first EPOS Annual Meeting ever held in the Baltic States. It is an important recognition for our professional community and an opportunity to bring colleagues from across Europe to Vilnius to share knowledge, build new collaborations and advance paediatric orthopaedic care," said Dr. Giedrius Bernotavičius.
The EPOS Annual Meeting will take place in Vilnius in spring 2029.
