Follow the footsteps of Lithuanian Jerusalem

Walking in the medieval Jewish Quarter of Vilnius will bring you back to the days when the city was known as the Jerusalem of the North. Walk along Mark Antokolski Street to learn about the pride of Russian Art, stop by Vilna Gaon Street to see the location of the former Great Vilna Synagogue, see the music school where Jascha Heifetz took his first steps in his music career, as well as the building of the renowned ORT school and the building of the famous Tarbut Gimnazia, nowadays the JCC. You can also visit the former Yiddish theatre, the rabbis’ council and the place of Theodor Herzl’s visit to Vilnius, and the Vilnius Synagogue built in the Moorish-Romanesque style. The Benedictine Convent is a place to learn about the story of the Lithuanian Righteous Among the Nations saving 12 Jewish souls.
