Vilnius is a few hundred kilometres away from Ukraine, but you can still find many signs of a common history and traces of Ukrainian culture. You just need to get into it. Go Vilnius invites you to learn new stories about the Vilnius of Ukrainians and spend an active weekend with friends or family.

If you like to solve riddles and are ready to test your knowledge – it’s time to put together a team and take part in a scavenger hunt. Log in to the tasks and join in on the fun. As you race around Vilnius on foot, you’ll discover mysteries that not everyone knows of.

The race starts as soon as you log in to the tasks! You can get your login details at the Vilnius Tourism Information Centre at Pilies g. 2, and log in to start.

* The tasks must be done on foot. You’ll need a mobile device with Internet and comfortable clothes.

RULES

• The scavenger hunt will run on 13-15 May;
• You don’t need to download any apps – the tasks are provided online;
• To start, you just need to log in after you get your login details at the Vilnius Tourism Information Centre at Pilies g. 2;
• During the scavenger hunt, your goal is to find the spot described and find the answer there;
• Your finish time is when you e-mail the answers to [email protected]. The name of the team MUST be specified in the e-mail. After sending the e-mail, wait for an automatic confirmation of receipt;
• The team with the most points will win. If more than one team gets the same amount of points, the one who finished the fastest will win;
• The correct answers and results will be posted on 16 May on the Facebook event page and on the scavenger hunt website.

Let’s get to know the signs of Ukrainian culture in Vilnius! Which world famous musicians from Ukraine have performed in Vilnius? And what nobleman of Ukrainian descent saved our capital? Let’s rediscover Vilnius through the prism of Ukrainian culture.

During these walks, Vilnius residents will tell you about the city, invite you to visit the places they like themselves, and share practical advice. What is this city? How did it become what it is today? Where should you go if you’re looking for peace and quiet, and where should you go if you’re looking for excitement? Where can you find the most beautiful panorama of the city? Where is the coffee good, and where do we go for beer? We’ll meet at the Vilnius Museum at Vokiečių g. 6 and set off from there. The routes and stories will be a little different, since they depend on the guide, who will share his or her personal knowledge about life in Vilnius. The guides will be special people who really know the city.

Verkiai tour: Walk around Verkiai Manor Park. Not only will you learn about the long history of this cultural heritage monument and its proprietors – you will also learn about the park itself. You’ll find out what protected species live in the park and why they are protected. Duration: Approx. 2 hours. Meet at the Pavilniai and Verkiai Regional Park Visitor Centre (Žaliųjų Ežerų g. 53).

Pavilniai tour: We’ll visit the very top of Pavilniai Regional Park – Pūčkoriai. Visitors will have an opportunity to get to know the natural and cultural properties in the valley of the Vilnia. We’ll visit the Pūčkoriai outcrop, one of the surviving interwar bunkers, the Pūčkoriai folwark, and the ruins of the cannon foundry, and then we’ll walk along the bank of the Vilnelė to the Belmontas watermill. Duration: Approx. 2 hours. Meet at the Pūčkoriai outcrop observation deck.

We invite you to join us on a sightseeing tour where you will get to know Vilnius. During the tour, you will use an audio guide which will tell you – in Ukrainian – about the city’s most important places and famous figures, as well as about Ukrainians who lived, worked and created in Vilnius.

We invite you to visit the newly opened outdoor terrace on top of the TV tower. A space where a breath-taking 360-degree panorama of Vilnius awaits. You can enjoy it by walking in a circle 170 metres above the ground, behind a safety net.

This is the ABC of the Old Town, which every self-respecting citizen must know! Vilnius Historical Center 1994 included in the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its unique medieval city structure, strong interaction between Eastern and Western cultures and a number of other factors. As a result, it is safe to say that there is something to show and tell in our old town. The tour also travels through the main arteries of the Old Town (Pilies, Vokiečių, Didžiąja, Universiteto streets) and less frequently visited courtyards and cross streets. Duration - 2 hours, route length - 3.5 km.

Lukiškės Prison 2.0 invites Ukrainians to discover a prison liberated by culture. Hour-long walks in English and Russian. For 115 years, Lukiškės Prison was protected by high walls and barbed wire, but today it is open to curious visitors. The last inmates were only moved from this prison in 2019. Today, the prison has taken on a new spirit and invites visitors to discover these mysterious grounds and take in its unique atmosphere. Take a tour, see the prison cells, hear interesting stories, and be prepared for new experiences.

Part 1: Introductory lecture on the value of Vilnius cultural heritage (40 min.), Director Gediminas Rutkauskas and art critic, expert of the Culture Foundation from Kiev Svitlana Liakhovets, in the SSIA hall.

Part 2: Excursion presenting the "raisin" of Vilnius Old Town (1 hour 20 minutes). The route will follow the lesser-known trails of the Old Town (Rūdninkai, All Saints, Horses, Pasažo, Subačiaus St., panorama from Bastėja Hill, Paupio Malūnai, Maironio St.). Route is subject to change. Guide architect Jūratė Raugalienė and art critic, cultural foundation expert Svitlana Liakhovets.

Vilnius has a truly memorable experience to offer – a hot air balloon ride right in the heart of the city! If the weather is good, the Oreivystės Centras team will fire up their balloons and give Ukrainians a quick glimpse of Vilnius from above. The ride will take about five minutes, and the balloon will be tethered to the ground with a long rope.

Date, time: Rides are scheduled for 14 and 15 May, but the exact start time will depend on weather conditions; look for information about the time and location on this website the day before.
