Being a newcomer in a city involves a lot of questions – how to navigate through the bureaucracy in a foreign country, how to find a good place to stay, where to look for language courses, and many more. To make integrating into life in Vilnius easier, Go Vilnius invites freshly settled foreigners to its dedicated Welcome to Vilnius workshops.
Organised on the last Tuesday of every month, the free workshops aimed at supporting foreigners who came to Vilnius to pursue professional opportunities provide an essential package of information to make settling into their new environment a smooth process. Topics include the Lithuanian social security and tax system, health insurance, obtaining a driver’s license, taking language courses, as well as getting around the city and enjoying leisure time.
Representatives from different government bodies and organisations lead the workshops and cover the topic that is most relevant to their area of expertise, which provides a valuable opportunity for expats to freely communicate with them and ask them questions specific to their situation.
Arranged on 29 January, the first Welcome to Vilnius workshop attracted a diverse audience – from new settlers in Vilnius and those living in the city for several years already, to young professionals and individuals who have accompanied their partner to Vilnius on their next career step.
An important part of the workshop is a city tour, which is focused on practical details like how to use car or bike-sharing systems in Vilnius, or the most effective ways to plan public transport trips. As participants of the previous workshop highlighted, a tour is also a good way to network with other foreigners and start building a social circle.
Registration for the next workshop is available here.
